Ben has graduated from formula only to a diet of formula and mushy gross tasting vomit like rice. Now, perhaps it is the baby or perhaps it is experience but it seems to be a much smoother process this time around. Of course, by smoother I mean more in the baby and less on his clothes and the floor and flung on the wall when he gets a hold of the spoon. The funny thing is that Ben gets so excited that he stiffens out his arms and legs and just holds them there. Looks like those copious thighs (as the pediatrician called them at his last well check-up) have some muscle hidden in there too.

The hard part with Ben is that if there is anything moving around us while feeding him, he is easily distracted away from the eating process. Below we were feeding on the table and all of a sudden Ben would just be captivated by the ceiling fan. It was a chore, once lost, to regain his attention with food. Apparently watered down rice does not trump fast moving blades.

Here is the crazy thing. Joshy is incredibly interested when I am feeding Ben the rice and usually asks to have a bite or two. I fully expected, the first time he asked, to give him a bite and have him scrunch his face and walk away. Nope, the boy apparently loves him some mush. One afternoon I was alternating a bite for Ben and a bite for Joshy and we were getting towards the bottom. There was just enough for one bite left and I told Joshy that it was for Ben. He asked for another bite and I told him that it was all gone. At this point Ben had pushed part of the spoonful of rice back out of his mouth and onto his chin. Yes, we can all see where this is going. Joshy looks at it and eats it. Yes, my three year old son just ate regurgitated slimy rice cereal! I could do nothing but look at him and laugh. If I knew his food standards were this low all along, I could have cut my grocery spending in half. Some milk, some chicken and a gallon of regurgitated mush...
