Slip n' Slide...almost

This weekend we bought the boys a Slip n' Slide after much requesting on the part of Joshy. They have water day every Friday at their daycare and the Slip n' Slide is apparently one of the main attractions. As such, once we had it set up, we expected him to take off down the slide like a pro but instead he just ran up to the edge and stopped. Now, if you don't know Joshy, you don't know the diva within. You see, we couldn't find his bathing suit and instead had just put him in a pair of shorts. He stopped at the edge of the Slip n' Slide because he didn't want to get his clothes wet. For the "I will, if you will" that solves a majority of problems, John volunteered to take a trip down the slide in his shirt and jeans. He took a running start and aside from the jarring force with which he hit the ground, made a perfect slide to the pool at the end. Finally getting up the nerve, Joshy takes off in a run towards the slide and then continues to run all the way down the slide. We are laughing and saying "no, no, no" when at the last minute he plops down and slides into the pool. We were trying to correct his form when really, he was the much more practical one. He knew his sliding capabilities and gaged the distance from the pool accordingly. A lesson I should have paid more attention to. While John and Joshy took turns with the slide and Ben played in the spray from one of the vents, I was standing on the porch, watching and nurturing my general aversion to wetness. I then got the notion that it would be great fun to surprise them by taking off from the porch and running through them to the slide. Planning my take-off perfectly, I take off as soon as one cleared the slide, before the other could begin. I reach the slide at full speed and leap forward in my best dive and slide...two feet. I was like one of those characters you see in a unintelligent comedy. I was still in dive form, hands out, feet back, dead stopped half way down the slide. John is dying laughing on the side and I pull myself up, less embarrassing than trying to snake crawl my way to the end. So much for my grand appearance. Ben was slowly migrating from spray to spray until he reached the end of the pool and just stood in the middle of it, feeling the water spray against his chest, pointing and excitedly screaming at anyone who drove by. All the while Joshy sliding just up to the edge of the pool to avoid knocking him over and John cheating by using the boogie board thing to splash me when I had only used my hands on him. Nothing beats running away and feeling that entire wave of water hit your previously dry back. My camera batteries were dead so I don't have any pictures but I will take some the next time we are out there so you can see the boys in action. They are the craziest and the best things to happen to John's and my life.

Those boys are having fun though.
Send pictures..Why do you always buy cameras that won't take a
picture of you, just the rest of the family.Yes, your children are always special..So are grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Love to all,
